Take a Load off Your Spine
Who doesn’t know how to use a backpack? Load it up and strap it on right?
Did you know that a backpack has the potential to alter posture and add stress to your child’s still growing spine?
The proper purchase and use of a backpack is critical.
When you’re out looking for a backpack it’s important that you find one that fits your child properly. It should not hang down below the waist more than 4 inches.
The backpack should have two padded and adjustable shoulder straps and a waist strap if possible.
Look for symmetrical pockets so that items can be loaded and kept separate and at the same time remain in balance. It is important to distribute the weight evenly. A fully loaded backpack should not exceed 15% of your child’s body weight.
As the experts on posture, spinal alignment and its effect on your health, let us help you find the best backpack for your child.
Stretch for Success
Have you ever heard the saying, “Use it or lose it”?
Let’s apply this saying to your health. If you don’t move, you may lose your ability to move over time.
How do you maintain mobility? Stretching is key.
Stretching not only helps your body stay loose but also helps break up adhesions and tight muscle areas.
When a gate hasn’t been opened for a long time, what happens?
The gate begins to rust and becomes difficult to open. Once you begin opening the gate, the rust starts to break up. Like the gate, opening up tight areas through stretching allows oxygen and nutrients to better enter that area of the body.
Performing stretches can also boost your body’s ability to perform better and help prevent you from injuring a muscle or joint.

Dr Lewis has been great in sorting my back out. And I do recommend my clients to him If I feel they need to see him also. I still get some back ache because I participate in triathlon so there's no getting away from it time to time but generally it is loads better and At 44 I am competing at a reasonable level and very fit for my age. Thank you Lewis
